Google paused all political ads until the inauguration on January 20th reaching this decision after its platforms were flooded with ads pertaining to the election, inauguration and the attack on The Capitol. Google ads from advertisers mentioning these topics were halted, including those from news outlets. You can read more on that here. (At the time of this writing, these restrictions were still imposed. Insiders expect that to be lifted but with more scrutiny moving forward.)

Our personal favorite from December was Bing rolling out Universal Tracking Data that can go back as far as 13 months (390 days)! This is a huge increase from the previous standard of 180 and is perfect for campaigns with seasonality.
